A LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Jacques (Jack) Delorme
It is with great sadness the family of Jacques Delorme announce his passing on Oct 23, 2023 at the age of 85 years. Jacques leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Louise (Potvin), his daughters Lynn Hanson (Paul), Denise Thomas (Peter), his adored grandchildren Kristy (Chris), Brad (Taryn), Matt (Sara), Mark (Kayla), Kelly (Mat) and his beloved great-grandchildren Leo, Jack, Rory, Rowan, Maeve, Isla, Olivia and Owen
Jacques was born in Ottawa to Eugene Delorme and Anna (Houle) and is predeceased by his siblings George, Roger and Marguerite and survived by his brother Robert.
Jacques joined the Canadian Armed Forces (RCEME) at the tender age of 18 and was married by the age of 21 to Louise, the girl that lived down the street! He was shortly posted to Germany in 1959 and became a dad to two girls by age 23. His return posting was to Ottawa (1961-66) with following postings to CFB Petawawa (ON)(1966-72), CFS Mont Apica (QC)(1972-74) and CFB Valcartier (QC)(1974-76). On these postings he taught his daughters how to fish and set trap lines, eat wild game, build the best campfires and how to use an outboard motor safely. He was a shark at cards winning most games and no trout or bass was safe from his line. His secret passion was to be a fishing guide.
After 20 years Jacques retired from the military and joined the RCMP as a constable in Ottawa (1976). He retired after another 15 years and settled into his best retirement ever at Cedar Cove Park campground on White Lake, fishing to his heart’s content. He was someone everyone went to for laughs, and for Mr. Fix It advice. He truly was a “Jack” of all trades! Jacques and Louise then enjoyed multiple cruises and became yearly snowbirds heading to Florida. His Tetrus skills packing his vehicle was legendary!
Jacques also spent many years golfing with friends and neighbours and joined the Roy Hobbs Seniors centre to continue his other passion, playing bridge. While he did play bridge on line, it was never as enjoyable as the in-person Thursday bridge days followed of course by a “take out” lunch on the way home. These were the perfect combination days.
Once the grandkids and great-grandkids started coming he embraced the role of Gramps whole heartedly and they will miss him sorely.
Jacques spent the last 18 months at Chapel Hill Retirement Residence where he became close to the staff and other residents. He was an easy man to like and made many friends and yes even helped reestablish a bridge club!
Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff of Chapel Hill for their personalized care, friendships and support to Jacques and Louise especially the last several months.
Jacques will be terribly missed by his family, friends and neighbours.
In celebration of Jacques’ life, family and friends are invited to join us at Heritage Funeral Complex 1250 Trim Road, Orleans on Saturday December 2nd 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am with a Celebration of Life service to follow 11:30-12:00 followed by a reception. Internment will take place next spring.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice is appreciated.
Our sincerest condolences to Louise, Lynn, Denise and all the grandkids and great grandkids. Jacques knew how to enjoy life and he and Louise raised a terrific family.
We met Jack in Mont Apica in 1973. It didn’t take us long to become friends. Both him & Louise were awesome people and fun to be with. He loved fishing and took Ron a few times to catch some trouts. We were invited over for a BBQ one night for burgers but never told us what the burgers were. Come to find out they were bear burgers. I thought the meat was dark.
Louise & I exchanged a lot of recipes which I still have. Also had a lot of coffees together.
Lynn & Denise were our babysitters while in Mt. Apica. We lost touch for a few years but was lucky to find Lynn on the Mt. Apica site.
Jack will be missed by a lot of people.

Louise, Denise, Lynn & Family,
Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time. We loved Jack & we have so many happy memories of time spent together celebrating birthdays for the kids, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter & more throughout the years. His sharp wit brought lots of laughter as we visited together at Peter & Denise’s home. Louise & Jack have always been very kind & welcoming to our family. We will truly miss him and he will be lovingly remembered. Praying that the Lord will give you peace & comfort at this time.

My sincere sympathy Louise,Denise and all your families. Sorry to have you go my best friend..
With deepest sympathy on losing a man so very special.
Remembering monsieur Jacque’s strong presence ;
His sense of humour; his acts of kindness.
How much he adored his family. Each name of the great grandchildren added on a sweatshirt he wore with pride.
He left a legacy of special things like these.
I will miss him. And our banter.
Look up at the sky. Find a star-the one perfect shimmering star that looks like it will be brand new. For comfort and healing to shine down on you all. For peace to light your path.
My name is Donna. Former housekeeper to
Jacques and Phyllis prior to the chapel Hill Residence.
Thankful for knowing him.
RIP
Dear Louise and family
Thinking of you at the sad time and remembering Jacques as always being a kind gentleman who spoke proudly of his family. Sincere sympathy, Irene MacPhee
I remember uncle Jack at white lake, he looked at me with a frog in his hands and said this is all I need. He later came back with a Big pike and pickerel he still had the same frog what was left of it.
We all had a great laugh that’s who uncle was.
Mes sincères sympathies a toute la famille.
Jack made sure Denise and I were girls that could do anything handy. Such a rare gift that changed my life. Thank you Jack.
Our deepest sympathy to the whole family, I have fine memories of uncle Jacques.

Sincere condolences to Louise & all the family….my late husband Brian & I were long time neighbours of Jacques & Louise at Cedar Cove Campground. We had many great times, sharing campfires, celebrating « Christmas in July » banquets & having a ton of fun!
So many wonderful memories!
They watched our kids grow up & our youngest has fond memories of times at « the campground ».
I am sure that all of the great family memories will help all of you & Jacques spirit will always be with you..
