A LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Daniel Henri Arcand

It is with immeasurable sadness that the Arcand family announces the sudden passing of Daniel Henri Arcand on the morning of Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He is survived by his eldest son Justin, daughter Julianne and youngest son Julien, as well as his former wife Lucie Adam, brother Maurice Arcand (Toronto) and mother Alda Arcand (née Lavoie, Sturgeon Falls.) His late father Roland Arcand (Cache Bay) passed away in 2014.

Dan was an incredible father, a sage mentor, and a dear friend. He lived many lives: in high school, he was the superstar captain for the MacDonald Cartier hockey team in Sudbury, where he grew up; he was an intelligent writer and sports fanatic, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Ottawa Senators, Liverpool FC and Montreal Expos. Dan also enjoyed traveling, having visited key locations true to his character, such as Liverpool, England (birthplace of The Beatles, his favourite band), Los Angeles, USA (where his favourite movies and events took place), New York City and the Washington DC area.

Dan was a dreamer: he wanted to make it rich, go to the fanciest parties and attend every NFL game as a VIP. He shared his love of music with his kids and got to see several of his favourite artists like Paul McCartney, Meat Loaf, Graham Parker, Bruce Springsteen, Ten Years After and many more. Dan was also a great coach throughout the years, leading teams to championships and helping to create everlasting memories for many kids and parents.

The void left by his passing will undoubtedly be felt for years to come, but his humour, lessons and energy will remain in our hearts forever.

A celebration of life will take place in early March. The Arcand family will share details soon.

Condoléances

Dan and I were ultimate sports rivals. Always butting heads over our nhl and nfl teams. Half of our relationship was chirping each other. We connected over our love for gambling like only true degenerate gamblers would understand. He was like a second father to me. He’s been in my life since I was 8 or 9 years old. There will be no greater memories however, than the ones we shared while he coached our midget hockey team. It was the only year a lot of us had ever won a championship. I don’t know if we got more joy out of it or if Coach Dan did. Either way I’ll never forget that season. All the rides, all the laughs, all the emotional highs, all the times he benched me to set an example to the rest of team. “How you gonna bench the top scorer,” I would ask him and he would hit me with a “don’t be such a jackass Mike. People look up to you.” We would win a game 6-1 and complain on the ride home that Julien and I didn’t get enough ice time. Dan would promptly call us princesses in disbelief. Always so straight up with me. He talked to me like I was one of his own children. I’ll miss you Daniel. One of these days we will get back to our endless chirp sessions and it will feel like no time has passed. Rest easy legend. Packers will always suck.

Dan and myself would talk almost everyday. He would always have a good joke and a friend i will miss dearly. He was always there if you needed him, i am lost for words.
RIP my friend

So sorry for your loss. I worked with Dan for many years at CRA and have wonderful memories of our fun unit. Your Dad always spoke very highly of you all, what you were up to and where you were.. Remember the god times and you have lots of beautiful pictures from his new home. Hugs for you all during these difficult days ahead. 🤗🤗🤗

My deepest sympathy for the loss of your Dad Justin, Julianne, & Julien. He was a wonderful friend and co-worker at CRA. He was fun, friendly, funny, classy, and truly one of a kind. Rest in peace, dear friend.

It is with great sadness to hear of the loss of a great friend and funny guy which I got to know at an early age through school, hockey and baseball. Surely puts a void in my heart. Sincere condolences to his family and just know that he had an impact of many lives including myself. RIP Dan. You will be missed

One of the infamous 3 Dan’s from my days on the 9th floor at 875 Heron. One of the good guys for sure! Rest in peace Dan. Go Packers!!!!

Dear Justin, Julianne, and Julien, I am so sorry for you loss. Please accept my deepest condolences. You are in my thoughts. Sincerely

I’m finding it hard to believe and accept that I’ve lost my younger brother. I will hold on to the many fond memories we shared: snowmobiling together in the field at the end of our street; packing a lunch and climbing the mountain beyond that field in the summer; our many fishing trips on Lake Nipissing with our parents; our trip to Expo 67; the many Friday nights we stayed up late, with our home-made salt and vinegar chips to watch Fright Night on CBC TV, which led to our mutual love of Universal International and Hammer horror films; our shared love of the Beatles; the times he visited Goran and me in Toronto with Lucie and their three great kids. I also remember how excited I was when they brought Dan home the first time and the time Fernande entered him into a « cute baby » contest and he won first prize! I’m going to miss you Dan.

Totally shocked to read this! Way to young to go!

I have some great memories with a man I called My cousin (by marriage to Lucie) when I referred to him to others. Dan was a Mack Jack legend when it came to ice hockey back in the 70’s. Fast track to the 90’s and my family ended up in Blackburn community where he was already settled. He ended up coaching both my sons at different levels (Go Stingers Go!) where he led them to a Championship. So many good memories.

Dan and I ended up on a train / road trip September 2000 to Buffalo (Orchard Park, New York) to see His Green Bay Packers at Ralph Wilson Stadium. I wanted to pre-order tickets but Dan said to leave that with him. We drove to the game and Dan started talking to tickets sellers on the street leading to the stadium to try and find great seats at a fully discounted price. Well, lo and behold My cousin got us tickets behind the Buffalo Bills bench 8 rows up. Price $42.00 on the stub and we ended up paying $20 a ticket. It was a fantastic game where the QB at the time where Doug Flutie and Brett Favre. The tailgate party and game (September 10, 2000) is an event I will hold with me of a fond memory with him.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of your great father and friend Justin, Julianne and Julien.
Sincere condolences to Lucie and Dan’s family.

Rest in peace My cousin Dan!

Justin, Julianne, Julien and Lucie,
We were so sorry to hear of Dan’s death. Please accept our most sincere condolences. We were neighbours for about 20 years and they were absolutely wonderful years and nothing but fond memories. Best neighbours ever!!!!!! I can never go back to Place d’Orleans without thinking of him. That is where I last saw him a week to the day before his passing. As always we discussed life in general and mostly talked about our kids. He was so very, very proud of all of you guys. He’s up there with Joe discussing sports and most importantly the Beatles. Love you guys so much and feel your pain.

Jo-Anne, Jamie & Sean.

We will remember Dan! A free spirit that engages and brings forward strength. A parent, a cousin, a friend, and much more in which we will continue to see his lights. Stay strong Justin, Julianne et Julien!

To Justin, Julianne and Julien, my deepest condolences to you and your extended family in this difficult time. I can say that I was glad to have worked with him for a little while until he retired. Talking Green Bay Packers and talking about how you all were doing since I left working at Best Buy.

I waited for a while to share this tribute because I went digging in my albums and found this picture. I don’t know exactly what to call the picture, but we were the men of Corporate Suspense from 2014. Those were the days, but I was glad to be a part of it, and indeed your father being around made work life better.

May he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathies to the family. I have known Danny since we were teenagers playing softball at Felix Ricard in Sudbury. We were part of a gang of sports loving friends for most of our youth, until life moved us all in different directions and locations. Reconnected with Dan through CRA as we both worked there but in different cities. Linked up with him again when we played on Ottawa and he joined our softball team and even recruited Lucie to play with us. We had great memories.
Will miss you buddy.

To a great buddy growing up in Sudbury. There was not one sport that Dan and I did not play together and compete. He was a very good friend to me. One of my biggest regrets is not keeping in closer touch with him after high school. My deepest condolences to Dan’s family. May he Rest In Peace.

Rest in peace my friend….Dan and i were co-workers at CRA for many years…his passion for sports was as passionate as mine…him being a Green Bay Packer fan and me being a Dallas Cowboy fan made for some truly memorable back and forth banter that i will always cherish…we were both fans of FC Liverpool and i will remember those memories as well…my condolences to his family during this difficult time…
