A LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Chad Andersen

Chad Andrew Andersen was born on July 1, 1998 making the news as the first baby born on Canada Day. He left us 24 years later on July 7, 2022, also making the news as the victim of a tragic motorcycle accident.

Devastated parents are Shelley and Robert Cross (step-dad) and Patrick and Sue Andersen (step-mom).

Chad grew up in a close, blended family with 8 siblings who adored him; Adam, (Jenni) Ashlee, Leah, Brooke, Jack, Robyn, Katie and Connor.

Chad is survived by his paternal grandparents Bernise (Grandma) and Ken, and maternal grandparents Sylvia and Elwood (Nana and Grandad). Nephew Kian and niece Penelope will be sure to remember uncle Chad, the warm, friendly fellow who would get down on the floor and play with them.

He had many aunts and uncles who will also dearly miss him.

Chad had many friends, best friends to many of them, and many romantic interests. He had a certain charm and manner with people, not just the ladies, that made him loved by all who came into his life.

He had a love for the outdoors, tinkering with machines, country music and cheese. At 8-years-old, 10 pm on a Tuesday, he once threatened to pack his bags and walk over to his father’s house when his mother’s fridge was bereft of cheddar.

He had a big friendly smile and warm hugs for everyone. He was a hard worker and was a valued employee wherever he worked. His boss, Richard King, at FenceOne, said he was the hardest worker he had ever had and will miss not only his work ethic, but a young man who quickly became a friend.

There will be a public viewing from 12:30 to 3:30 pm followed by a service at Heritage Funeral Complex in Orleans on Saturday, July 16. Chad will be cremated the following day.

As Chad would say: ‘Life is short—Send It!’

Condoléances

Dear Shelley, Rob, Pat, Sue and family,

Words fail in this situation to describe the loss you must be feeling. We are so deeply sorry for what you were going through. We extend our deepest condolences to your family.

We have such fond memories of Chad growing up next door to us. The kids were always outside playing and Chad was repairing everyone’s bikes. He was an amazing little boy who grew into a wonderful young man. Cherish those memories and keep them close to your hearts.

We are sending you love and prayers and hope you are able to find strength during this dark time.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Rest In Peace Chad. ❤️

Love,
Alex, Marc, Nik and Katarina Belanger

For as long as I’ve known Chad, I will always remember his amazing smile and friendly nature. I remember Rob and Chad borrowing my trailer and the passion Chad had for his hobbies. I can’t imagine the grief that you are all experiencing right now. Someone once told me, the greater the love and deeper the sorrow – Chad was greatly love by an amazing family. Know that you are not alone if you need support, someone to listen, a hand to hold, a hug or just someone to be there.

I am truly sorry Rob & Shelley for your loss my thoughts & prayers are with you both & your family at this difficult time. Cheryl Durling

The few times I saw Chad at his grandparents, his smile lit up the outside like the sun would. So polite to me, and truly listened when I would talk with him. My sincere condolences to Chad’s family and friends. Rest in Peace Chad.🧀

Dearest Andersen family.

I only “knew” Chad through FB. He was brought into my life when I lost my son, Jason, in 2019. They had met at Tomlinson and become fast friends. Chad reached out to me and I was in awe of this “kid” and immediately understood why he and my son became fast friends. I was so proud of this kid I had never met. I wish I had. I am heartbroken for his family and friends. He is irreplaceable and unforgettable. I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss him as well. He was a bright spot in many of my days. I’m sure he and Jason are back to causing mischief and protecting those they love.

This road will be long. Remember, there is no timeline for grief. Grieving is different for everyone and no one can tell you otherwise.

Sending you all love and peace.

We all know Chad to wear his heart on his sleeve. He must have been an awful poker player because he showed his emotion and thoughts, his happiness and the rare odd time, his sadness. One day on a job he seemed off and I asked him what was up and he opened up about problems he was having with a girlfriend. We keep things light on the job site so I told him a joke. « What do you call a blonde women’s skeleton in the closet? The Hide and Seek champion of 1999 ». That joke was Chad’s go to laugh maker from that day on. ( with apologies to the blonde ladies 🙂 We are missing you at work brother.

I’m truly sorry for your loss. Chad came into my life over 6 Years ago back in high school. I had a lot of firsts with him and our paths crossed now and again over the years. I was shocked when I heard the news. Even though we hadn’t spoken for years I’ve shed many tears thinking about our memories and all the beautiful memories being shared on the internet. I wish your family strength in this time of tragedy.

To Pat, Sue, Shelley, Rob & families.

My deepest sympathies on the sudden passing of your dearest Chad. I will always remember his ability to cut up, do silly things and make everyone laugh! He loved his family deeply, and always wanted to make everyone smile. Know that he will be above, watching over and protecting you all! Godspeed Chad and thoughts are with the entire family!

I knew Chad for a few years, he was my boyfriend’s best friend for years since they were kids.

When I first met Chad, he had a smile on his face, and a super loving aura, saying « hey sexy » to all his friends. I had never heard someone say that before, and I knew from that moment he was a interesting guy.
Chad had this amazing gift, he was able to bring so many people together; just to hang out and have a good time.
That’s who Chad was. At his shop, offering everyone beers, asking how their day was, he was so caring for all the people in his life. When he talked to you, he made you feel like the most important person at that moment.

The last thing Chad told me, was that my boyfriend and I were family to him, that we would always will be family to him. He said he wanted the best for us.

(To Chad)
Chad, thanks for coming into my life, even if it just was just for a few years. Thanks for being there when I got my first tattoo, I’m so glad to have been there when you got your « send it » done with my boyfriend. I’ve heard that your brothers and your dad will share that tattoo with you from now on, and I’m so happy for that.

There are so many people who love you. You have touched all of our lives in a amazing way. From what I’ve heard, you’ve done so much in your life, met so many people, and I’m happy you « sent it » all the way. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

I »ve shared one of the selfies Chad took on my phone during one of our hangouts at my old place. I hope it makes everyone smile like it made me.

RIP Chad ♥️
We’ve never met but I feel I know you better than some of the closest people to me after all the wonderful shares and stories your beautiful family has shared with me and others. The Andersen / Cross family has shown me how family sticks together. The strength of Your parents and siblings has blown me away, I will take their strength and learn from it. Thank you all for showing us outsiders true family love.
Cheers 🍻 Chad ! Sorry we never met.
