A LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Anna Gail Thomas (nee Trowsse)
It is with deep sadness that we announce that our precious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed to her heavenly home quietly at the age of 84 on October 14 while at home with family.
She was the dear, loving wife of Lloyd for over 62 years. Treasured mother to Peter (Denise), John (predeceased) and Sharon (Alan). Loving Nanny to grandsons Brad (Taryn) and Matt (Sara). Blessed with great-grandsons Rory and Rowan and great-granddaughters Maeve and Isla. Nanny’s legacy red hair is being carried on by one grandson & great-granddaughter! Mom loved all the kids dearly & was blessed to have seen them all this past Thanksgiving weekend.
Mom was born in April 1937 in Wakefield, QC to Thomas and Laura Trowsse (nee McClinton). She will be dearly missed by her sister Beverly, who so lovingly spent time talking to Mom almost daily. She was predeceased by her brother Terry. Mom will also be missed by brother and sister in-laws, as well as nieces and nephews in Ottawa, Kingston and Newfoundland.
Mom always had a happy, joyful spirit, and a wonderful sense of humour which she would often express with that twinkle in her eye! She was the heart of our family home. Mom was strong in her faith and loved the Lord. She made many wonderful lasting friendships in the church family over the years, and had been a long-time member of Community Pentecostal Church.
While we will miss you terribly, we know you are at rest at last and will see you again in heaven!
Visitation and service by Invitation Only will be held at Community Pentecostal Church in Orleans on Wednesday, October 20. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 12:45pm and Service at 1:00pm. A private Interment will take place at Dale Cemetery in Cumberland following the service.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, CHEO, Heart Institute or a charity of your choice.
Gail was a longtime friend of my parents, Al and Esther Sawyer, who have already passed onto their heavenly home. I remember her as a kind, gentle person who always had a ready smile.
Uncle Lloyd and family,
We are thinking of you as you celebrate the beautiful life that aunt Gail had. We have many fond memories of your annual Summer trips to Newfoundland. We always cherished the times when you would stop at the McDonald’s in Corner Brooke and share lunch with us when we were attending University. We are sending lots of love to you today and in the days to come.
Love,

We are so saddened by the loss of our kind and gentle Aunt Gail. She has such a loving spirit and I always enjoyed every minute I spent with her on her and uncle Lloyd’s trips to NL. Aunt Gail always listened to my stories and engaged me in conversation. She showed me, and others, that she valued the time she spent with them. It was always easy to tell she was full of the Fruit of the Spirit from the way she treated others. I am blessed to have had her as an aunt and I will miss her dearly. I’m looking forward to the day I get to see her again. Sending everyone love and prayers as you celebrate the wonderful person she was. I wish we could all be together at this time.
Lots of love,

To Uncle Lloyd and Family,
We are so sad to hear of Aunt Gail’s passing. I have very fond memories of spending time with Aunt Gail when you both would visit Newfoundland during the summers when I was younger. She was such a lovely person and had such a kind and genuine soul. Even though we lived far apart and I didn’t get to see her very often, I always knew how much she thought and cared about us all down here in Newfoundland. She will surely be missed and fondly remembered.
Sending love and prayers to you all.
Love,
Amanda and Mike

To my dearest friend Sharon,
I don’t have enough words to say how sad I am and nothing I say would make any difference to how you feel right now. I have been and will always miss, Mrs.Thomas’ hugs, kindness and sweetest smile. She was a blessing to me. I am grateful for all her prayers and thoughts towards me during last 13 years. Mrs Thomas truly made an impact in my life being almost like a mother to me. I am ever grateful for that.
I am thinking of you, and praying for you Sharon.
Love,
Ruvina
Our deepest condolences to Lloyd, Peter (Denise), Sharon (Alan), Matt, Brad, and the great-grandkids. I have the fondest of memories of time spent in the Thomas household during my high school and university days! Mrs. Thomas was always smiling and welcoming and it was clear to me that this was a very loving family. Take care of each other and know that our thoughts are with you all.
Dear Lloyd,
You and Gail along with the Dills were are first contacts when we moved back to Orleans from Montreal. We could not have asked for better neighbors. We have been blessed in knowing you both. May this verse bring some piece in your time of grief: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
