À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Allan Francis Bowes

Passed way peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital on March 27, 2023 with family by his side. Allan was born July 1, 1943 to parents Francis Wilburt and Emily Jean (nee Lambert) Bowes at Belleville Ontario. As his father stayed in the Air Forces after the war, the family lived on military bases across Canada and in Europe. He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years Leona (nee Mc Gregor); his daughter Christie (Mike Anguish); his son Keith (Sheila Ball); grandchildren Scott, Kevin and Sarah Bowes and Johnethan Anguish. As well his sister Anne (Steve) Meda; brother Bruce (Donna); sisters in law Gloria Schmidt and Leslie (Paul Pilon) Briand; and many nieces and nephews.

Allan served in the RCMP in various Saskatchewan detachments for 6 years and in CPIC for 16 years, retiring in Vancouver in 1984. He then started a civilian career in Network Management at the Post Office in Ottawa and as a consultant at CNG, Conoscenti and ALBA Communications.

Allan had an incredible memory for history, especially related to military battles, vehicles and planes. He had a commercial pilot license and for years flew his plane out of Rockcliff and Arnprior airports.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Orleans United Church, 1111 Orleans Blvd, Orleans ON. A reception and a time of visiting will follow the service. Interment will take place at the RCMP Cemetery at Depot in Regina at a later date.

In memory of Allan, donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.

Condoléances

Just home from the south and heard. We lived across the street from Al and Leona early 70,s, worked with Al, carpooled, just a great couple, he will be missed.

We were shocked and saddened by the news of Allan’s passing. We were neighbours in wpg , many years ago, and visited them in ottawa, and had a fantastic time. He will be missed!

Greatly saddened to hear of Al’s passing. What an amazing fellow he was. I knew him for about 20 years, my husband David knew him for much longer. A jovial man, fantastic story teller and excellent hugger, he will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to Leona and the rest of his family. Warmly Sarah Holden and David Shaddick.

Leona, I am so sorry to hear this news of your husband’s passing! May God bring comfort to your heart and mind during this difficult time!

Leona we are so saddened to hear of Al’s passing and our hearts go out to you and your family. The cottage certainly won’t be the same without him and his many stories. May all your wonderful memories help you through this time of sorrow. Love Heather and Brian

To the Bowes extended family please accept the Arnprior Airport Community condolences on the loss of Al. Al was certainly a « centrepiece » at the airport with his stories and valued support of the airport. May he rest in peace.

On behalf of the Manitoba RCMP Veterans Association we offer our deepest condolences to Leona and the extended Bowes family. Thank you Al for your service to Canada. May you rest in peace.

A best friend gone too soon is a tragedy. But what would have been worse is never to have met him. We are grateful to have been Allan’s friend in life and will continue to be his friend in death, honoring him in all we do. Our hearts and condolences go out to Leona and the rest of the family. Warm regards. Marie Josée and Francois Siest.
